Why a reset — not a new module
When your airbags deploy, the control module permanently records the crash and locks itself. That lock is why the light stays on, and why a scan tool can’t clear it. The module hardware itself is almost always perfectly good — so you don’t need to buy a new one.
- Crash data cleared — the permanent deployment record that keeps the light on.
- Hard codes cleared — the stored fault codes a scanner can’t touch.
- Restored to factory condition — plug it back in and the airbag light is off.
- All makes & models, 2008+ — choose yours when you book.
What a reset is, in plain English
A reset restores your original module to the way it left the factory — the same part, brought back to zero. It’s not a repair, and it’s not a replacement part. That’s why it costs a small fraction of a new module or a dealer visit.
Physical airbags, seat belts, wiring and other vehicle faults are separate fixes — we’ll tell you honestly if your module isn’t the whole story.

Common questions
Good questions, answered straight
How does the mail-in reset work?
You send us your original SRS airbag control module. We clear the crash data and hard codes, restore it to factory condition, and mail it back — most within 24 business hours of arrival. You plug it back in and the airbag light is off.
Do I really not pay for shipping?
Correct. We cover shipping in both directions — a prepaid label to get it to us, and we pay to send it back. No surprise return charge.
What vehicles do you support?
All makes and models, model year 2008 and newer — including Ford, Chevrolet, GMC, Ram, Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler, Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Acura, Nissan, Infiniti, Hyundai, Kia, Genesis, Subaru, Mazda, Mitsubishi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen and Volvo. Just pick your year, make and model when you book.
Is a reset module as good as a new one?
Yes. The module hardware is almost always fine after a collision — it’s the crash lock that keeps the light on. Restoring it to factory condition brings it back to how it left the factory, backed by our 30-day labor warranty.
How long does it take?
Most modules are reset and back in the mail within 24 business hours of us receiving them. Business hours are Monday–Friday and Saturday until 2pm Central.
What if my module can’t be reset?
You’re covered by our reset guarantee: if we can’t reset your module, you get a full refund of the reset fee (the full terms are shown before you book). And if a module truly needs to be replaced and programmed, we’ll tell you honestly — no pressure, no guesswork.
Do you repair airbag control modules?
We reset them instead of repairing them. After a crash, the module hardware is almost always fine — it’s the stored crash data and hard codes that keep the airbag light on. We clear those and restore your original module to factory condition. If a module is physically damaged and can’t be reset, we’ll tell you honestly.
Is this the same as an SRS module reset?
Yes. The airbag control module is also called the SRS module — or ACM, RCM or SDM, depending on the brand. An SRS module reset and an airbag module reset are the same service: we clear the crash data and restore your original module to factory condition.
Will a reset turn off my airbag light?
If the light is on because your module stored crash data or hard codes, yes — that is exactly what the reset clears. If a sensor, seat belt pretensioner, clock spring or wiring fault is also present, that part has to be repaired too.
Do I need a new airbag module after an accident?
Usually not. In most collisions the module itself is fine — it locks itself by storing crash data. Resetting your original module keeps it matched to your vehicle, and it costs far less than a new one.
What is crash data, and is it safe to clear?
Crash data is the collision record your airbag module saves when it detects a crash or deploys an airbag. Once it is stored, the module stays locked and the airbag light stays on. Clearing it restores your original module to factory condition so the system can work again.
Can I reset an airbag module myself?
Crash data usually can’t be cleared with a regular scan tool — it takes bench equipment and the right software for each module. For most drivers and shops, mailing it to us is the quickest, safest route.
