Forward Emergency Braking Calibration In Dallas–Fort Worth
Forward Emergency Braking—commonly referred to as Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB)—is designed to apply the vehicle’s brakes automatically in time to avoid or mitigate an impending forward crash when the driver does not respond quickly enough.
Because AEB depends on forward-looking sensors (often a front camera, front radar, or both), even small changes to sensor position, mounting geometry, or vehicle alignment can impact accuracy. LockNCal provides mobile Forward Emergency Braking calibration in Dallas–Fort Worth, using OEM-guided procedures and a verification-based workflow to confirm the system is operating correctly after repairs or component changes.
What Is Forward Emergency Braking?
Forward Emergency Braking is a driver-assistance safety feature that detects a potential forward collision risk and automatically applies braking to reduce impact severity or prevent the crash altogether. NHTSA describes Automatic Emergency Braking as a system that applies the brakes automatically in time to avoid or mitigate an impending forward crash with another vehicle. ()
Many manufacturers pair AEB with forward collision alerts and additional braking support functions, which means calibration and verification should be treated as a safety-critical final step—not an optional add-on.

How Forward Emergency Braking Works
AEB systems typically rely on:
Forward Radar Sensors (often behind the grille or bumper area)
Forward-Facing Cameras (often near the windshield/rearview mirror area)
Control Modules and Software Logic that determine closing speed, object detection, and braking thresholds
When the system detects a crash-imminent scenario and the driver does not brake sufficiently, it can automatically initiate braking. The performance of this feature is directly tied to sensor alignment and the vehicle’s learned reference points.
When Is Calibration Required?
Calibration is frequently required when a sensor is replaced, removed, reinstalled, or when surrounding components change the sensor’s reference position.
Collision repair guidance from I-CAR indicates:
Forward Radar Calibration is generally required after radar replacement. It may also be required after removal of the front bumper/grille, after front structural repairs, or after removal and installation of the radar unit.
Forward-Facing Camera Calibration typically requires an aiming procedure after camera replacement and may also be necessary after windshield, rearview mirror, or camera removal/reinstallation. Aiming procedures can be static, dynamic, or both, depending on the vehicle.
More broadly, many OEMs require calibration after removing a radar or forward-facing camera, and sometimes after removing adjacent parts (windshield replacement, bumper R&I, etc.)
Practical triggers to treat as “calibration required until verified otherwise” include:
Collision repairs involving bumper, grille, radiator support, or front structural work
Windshield replacement or camera bracket disturbance
Radar/camera/module replacement or programming events
Alignment and suspension work that changes ride height and sensor angles
ADAS warning lights, false alerts, or “system unavailable” messages
Static Vs. Dynamic Calibration
The calibration method depends on the OEM procedure requirements and the fault set present:
Static Calibration: completed stationary using targets, measurements, and scan tool procedures
Dynamic Calibration: completed under defined driving conditions with scan tool guidance
Static + Dynamic: Some vehicles require both steps for a complete calibration
LockNCal confirms the correct approach by validating your year/make/model procedure pathway before we execute.
Our Mobile Calibration And Verification Process
This is a controlled, repeatable workflow designed to reduce comebacks and protect safety performance:
Pre-Scan Diagnostics to identify active and stored ADAS faults
Sensor And Mounting Verification (sensor seating, bracket integrity, connector condition, and visibility)
OEM-Guided Calibration Execution (static, dynamic, or both as required)
Post-Scan Verification to confirm that faults are apparent and calibration is completed successfully
Operational Confirmation to validate proper system behavior before closeout
If calibration cannot be completed due to an underlying condition (sensor damage, incorrect bracket alignment, incompatible parts, or additional communication faults), we document the blocker and provide the following corrective action required to complete the job.

On time, reliable and incredible service. Very honest about our repair and showed us the code log. Highly recommend. Already shared his information with a family member who didn’t even know this kind of service exists. Now I can feel confident that our family’s vehicle is safe to drive again.
Fast and efficient service with a comprehensive scan of your car's radar system.
This is a great company to deal with ,my cruise control stopped working & they came out & gave a free diagnosis which gave a clear picture of what was exactly wrong ,highly recommended ,very professional & honest, thank you again !!!
I initially went to the dealership when the airbag light in my Nissan Rogue had come on. Upon diagnostic review, the dealership advised that it would cost around $4500 to correct the issues that they were seeing with the system. I decided to get a 2nd opinion and I called DFW Safety Restore. Jose was able to work me in next day. He was prompt and right on time for my appointment in coming out to my house to run a diagnostic on my car. The first scan showed a host of issues, the same issues the dealership reported and more. So many, that Jose suggested resetting the codes and rerunning the diagnostic to get a true picture of what was going on. He said if there are true issues with the system the diagnostic codes would reappear. The reset worked and the system went back to normal. I am so thankful for Jose, and DFW Safety Restore for saving me from unnecessary and very expensive work on my car. If you have airbag system issues with your vehicle, I highly, HIGHLY, recommend you give DFW Safety Restore a call first.
My brother had a minor accident but it hit exactly where the air bag sensor was located. Due to the age and miles of the car, it was a total loss. We had the option of keeping the car at a lower value (salvage title) or full loss value. We were not going to be close in the cost of replacing the car if we took the full value so we tried to get several quotes to fix. Most places wouldn’t give a quote or even touch the car. I only found 2 places that seemed solid to properly fix the cars primary issue (air bags and locked seat belts). Of those 2, DFW safety restore seemed more professional and communicated everything very clearly! He also helped me find a body shop to fix the car without spending thousands beyond the car’s value. The work, the professionalism, and the communication all 5 stars!! Super happy we kept the car and used DFW safety restore!!
Great service ! Came out same day and completed job accurately and quickly ! Will definitely be using them again .
After struggling to find the right parts on eBay for my daughter’s wrecked car, I searched for a local company that could restore and reprogram airbag modules and seatbelts. That’s when I found DFW Safety Restore, and I couldn’t be more grateful for their service. I reached out via their text chat and connected with Jose, who was an absolute pleasure to work with. Jose was incredibly polite, professional, and patient, taking the time to understand my needs and concerns. He followed up with a phone call to discuss everything in detail, offering clear, understandable solutions to all the issues with my daughter’s car. His expertise and willingness to explain things in a way I could grasp made the process stress-free. Jose’s generosity with his time and his exceptional customer service stood out as the best I’ve experienced in decades. He is the pinnacle of a professional technician, and I wish there were more people like him in the world. DFW Safety Restore, thanks to Jose, exceeded my expectations, and I highly recommend their services to anyone needing car safety system repairs.
I worked with Jose and he was great! He was on time (even early), very efficient, took time to explain everything to me and happily answered all of my questions. The next business day he sent me a quote for everything we discussed and the diagnostic report we looked at together. I highly recommend them!
