Terms and Conditions for Vehicle Diagnostic Services

IMPORTANT: Modern vehicles contain complex, interconnected electronic systems. LockNCal’s Vehicle Diagnostic Service is a scan-only diagnostic focused on the specific safety and security systems LockNCal supports. By booking, paying for, or receiving vehicle diagnostic services from LockNCal, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to the terms below.
This page works together with LockNCal’s Return & Refund Policy, Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy, and Acknowledgments, Disclaimers & Legal Consents. If any conflict arises, these service-specific disclosure controls apply to Vehicle Diagnostic Services.
1) Scope of Diagnostic (Scan-Only / Specialty Systems Only)
I understand LockNCal’s Vehicle Diagnostic Service is scan-only. LockNCal will connect scan equipment to the vehicle and retrieve fault codes/data from applicable modules related to the LockNCal services.
This diagnostic is limited to systems such as:
- SRS / Airbag systems
- ADAS systems
- Anti-Theft / Immobilizer (IMMO) systems
- Related safety/security modules and communication relevant to those systems
I understand this is not a full-vehicle diagnostic.
2) Systems and Issues Not Covered
I understand this diagnostic service is not intended to diagnose unrelated systems or general vehicle problems, including but not limited to:
- Engine performance or drivability issues (including misfires, rough running, no-start caused by non-IMMO engine issues, fuel/air/ignition problems, or check-engine concerns)
- Transmission issues
- HVAC issues
- Suspension or steering concerns unrelated to LockNCal’s specialty services
- General mechanical problems
- General electrical issues outside the covered specialty systems
I understand that if my main issue falls outside LockNCal’s specialty systems, LockNCal may be unable to help beyond identifying that the issue is outside its scope.
3) No Electrical Pinpoint Testing / No Full Troubleshooting
I understand LockNCal does not perform time-intensive electrical troubleshooting as part of this diagnostic service, including but not limited to:
- Wiring harness tracing
- Open/short testing
- Parasitic draw testing
- Network integrity mapping
- Intermittent electrical fault tracing
- Connector-by-connector fault isolation
- Corrosion/water intrusion pinpoint investigation
Even if the fault is within a system LockNCal specializes in, I understand LockNCal may not be able to identify the exact wire, circuit, connector, module, or physical location of the failure under this scan-only service.
4) 1-Hour Maximum Service Window
I understand this diagnostic service has a maximum on-site limit of 1 hour.
- The hour includes connecting scan tools, scanning the applicable modules, documenting findings, and communicating scan results for the covered systems.
- If the vehicle requires more time due to communication issues, low voltage, severe network faults, missing modules, inaccessible systems, or other complications, LockNCal may stop at the 1-hour limit.
- Any further work requires a separate appointment and a separate fee.
5) What I Will Receive
I understand that LockNCal may provide a scan report, fault list, or summary of findings for the covered systems, based on the data available at the time of the scan.
I also understand:
- Results depend on vehicle voltage, module communication, prior repairs, installed parts, and the vehicle’s current condition.
- Some modules may not communicate at all.
- Some faults may not appear until other issues are repaired first and communication is restored.
6) No Guaranteed Solutions / No Guaranteed Root Cause
I understand scan results show what the vehicle is reporting at that time, but they do not always identify the exact root cause.
- LockNCal does not guarantee a 100% accurate solution or exact repair path from a scan-only diagnostic.
- One fault may hide another. After one problem is repaired, additional faults may appear or become visible.
- Recommendations, if any, are informational only and are not a guarantee that any specific repair will fully resolve the issue.
7) Relationship to Repairs and Other Services
I understand this booking is for diagnostic scanning time only. It does not include:
- Programming
- Calibration
- Parts replacement
- Electrical repair
- Additional troubleshooting beyond the scan-only scope
If further service is needed, I understand it will require a separate quote, separate approval, and separate payment.
If I am unsure whether I need programming, calibration, replacement, or multiple services, I understand this scan-only diagnostic is the recommended first step.
8) Vehicle Access, Condition, and Scan Limitations
I agree the vehicle will be present at the scheduled location/time and accessible for diagnostics, including OBD2.
I understand scan accuracy and completeness may be limited or prevented by conditions, including, but not limited to:
- Low battery voltage or unstable voltage
- Blown fuses
- Aftermarket electronics or modifications
- Prior collision damage
- Water intrusion or corrosion
- Missing modules or disconnected components
- Prior work performed by others
- Communication/network faults
9) Proof of Ownership / Authorization (When Required)
If the requested scan involves anti-theft, immobilizer, security access, or any function for which LockNCal reasonably requires ownership verification, I understand LockNCal may require proof of ownership/authorization before proceeding.
If I cannot provide acceptable documentation when required, LockNCal may refuse or limit service, and all payments remain final and non-refundable.
10) No Cancellations / No Refunds / Final Sale Policy
- All bookings are final: once a Vehicle Diagnostic Service is booked and paid for, the sale is final.
- No refunds due to findings or limitations: No refund will be issued if the scan reveals issues outside LockNCal’s scope, if modules will not communicate, if results are limited by vehicle condition, or if further specialized diagnostic/electrical testing is required beyond this service.
- No refunds due to outcome: No refund will be issued if the scan does not provide a complete answer, exact root cause, or guaranteed repair path.
- Chargeback acknowledgement: I agree not to dispute or charge back the payment because LockNCal reserves capacity, performs professional labor, and attempts service in good faith.
11) Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, LockNCal is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to towing costs, rental vehicle costs, storage fees, missed work, lost wages, downtime, inconvenience, or related losses.
If LockNCal is found liable for any reason, LockNCal’s total liability is limited to the amount paid for the specific diagnostic service at issue.
12) Customer Authorization
- I confirm that I am the vehicle owner or an authorized agent for this vehicle and that the information I provide is accurate.
- I authorize LockNCal to connect scan equipment to the vehicle, scan applicable modules, document scan findings, and take reasonable steps necessary to perform the booked diagnostic service.
- I authorize LockNCal to communicate with me by text message and phone regarding findings, quotes for additional services, and service updates.
By booking, paying for, or receiving Vehicle Diagnostic Services from LockNCal, I electronically sign and agree to these Terms and Conditions for Vehicle Diagnostic Services.
The website was easy to navigate and I found the service I needed and was able to book the perfect time between work. The technician messaged me a day early letting me know that he would be in the area and gave me the option to get it taken care of early but unfortunately I was working. If I hadn't been that would have been amazing to get it done ahead of time. He was on time and very pleasant. Worked quickly and got my problem taken care of. It was such a better experience than sitting in a waiting room with strangers or having to take an Uber back and forth to avoid such situation. I'm already recommending them to my friends because of how easy it was. Why go to a shop to get your car fixed at the shop can just come to you?
This is my first mobile mechanic experience and I have to say Jose made it the best. He was early on the appointment he was very professional very knowledgeable and polite. If you need a mobile mechanic call lockncal and try to get Jose out he'll fix you right up. I have to admit that I was a little skeptical about paying up front because I've never used this type of service before but the end result I am very pleased and will use this service again thank you Jose again if I need anything else I'll get you out to fix it.
Jose contacted me swiftly after I filled out the form on the website and discussed the part needed (clock spring) and the appointment time. I was able to get in within 2 days. He arrived early and got right to work and was done rather quickly. He communicated well the whole time. I’m very glad to be back on the road and know my airbag light is off and all my steering wheel buttons work again!

I initially went to the dealership when the airbag light in my Nissan Rogue had come on. Upon diagnostic review, the dealership advised that it would cost around $4500 to correct the issues that they were seeing with the system. I decided to get a 2nd opinion and I called DFW Safety Restore. Jose was able to work me in next day. He was prompt and right on time for my appointment in coming out to my house to run a diagnostic on my car. The first scan showed a host of issues, the same issues the dealership reported and more. So many, that Jose suggested resetting the codes and rerunning the diagnostic to get a true picture of what was going on. He said if there are true issues with the system the diagnostic codes would reappear. The reset worked and the system went back to normal. I am so thankful for Jose, and DFW Safety Restore for saving me from unnecessary and very expensive work on my car.
