Mail-In Service Terms & Conditions

These Mail-In Service Terms & Conditions (“Mail-In Terms”) apply to any LockNCal mail-in service request, including use of any prepaid shipping label provided by LockNCal. By submitting a mail-in request, shipping an item to LockNCal, and/or purchasing a mail-in service, you (“Customer,” “you”) acknowledge and agree to these Mail-In Terms, together with LockNCal’s Return & Refund Policy, Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy, and any service-specific disclosures accepted at checkout.
IMPORTANT: Mail-in services are affected by item condition, proper packaging, carrier performance, and the nature of the requested service. By using a LockNCal mail-in service, you accept the risks and limitations described below.
1) Customer Packaging Responsibility
- You are responsible for packaging: you must properly package the item before shipment.
- Packaging standard: Items must be securely packed to prevent movement, impact, moisture exposure, and shipping damage. Use a sturdy box and sufficient protective padding.
- Damage from packaging: LockNCal is not responsible for damage caused by improper packaging, inadequate protection, failure to protect the item from moisture or impact, or failure to follow reasonable shipping precautions.
- Recommended practice: You are strongly encouraged to photograph the item and packaging before shipment for your own records.
2) Shipping, Carrier Handling, and Risk of Loss
- Third-party carriers: Transportation is handled by third-party carriers. Carrier performance is outside LockNCal’s control.
- Risk of loss/damage in transit: LockNCal is not responsible for loss, theft, delay, damage, misdelivery, or non-delivery caused by the carrier, improper packaging, incorrect addressing, or circumstances beyond LockNCal’s control.
- Prepaid label does not shift packaging responsibility: If LockNCal provides a prepaid shipping label, you remain fully responsible for proper packaging and the condition of the item when it is shipped.
- Tracking/insurance recommended: You are strongly encouraged to use tracking and shipping insurance where available and appropriate.
3) No Transit or Delivery Time Guarantees
- Estimates only: All shipping and transit times are estimates only.
- No guaranteed delivery date: LockNCal does not guarantee delivery dates, transit times, inspection dates, completion dates, or return-delivery dates.
- Delay consequences: If shipping to or from LockNCal is delayed, inspection, service completion, and return timelines may also be delayed. LockNCal is not liable for such delays.
4) Service Authorization and Inspection
- Authorization: By submitting a mail-in request and sending an item, you authorize LockNCal to receive, inspect, test (where applicable), and perform the selected mail-in service on the item shipped.
- Condition limitations: You understand mail-in service outcomes depend on the condition of the item received. Severely damaged, corroded, flooded, altered, internally defective, incorrectly shipped, or otherwise compromised items may prevent successful service.
- Additional issues: If LockNCal discovers additional issues or determines the requested mail-in service is not appropriate for the item received, LockNCal may notify you of available options. Your approval is required before any additional paid service is performed.
- Wrong item sent: If you send the wrong item, incomplete components, or an item materially different from the service ordered, LockNCal may stop processing, return the item at your expense, and all amounts already paid remain subject to LockNCal’s no-refund policies unless LockNCal expressly states otherwise in writing.
5) Customer Responsibility for Item Accuracy and Shipment Contents
- Correct item required: You are responsible for ensuring the correct item is sent for the service ordered.
- No responsibility for extra contents: Do not include unrelated parts, accessories, packaging inserts, personal property, or unnecessary items unless specifically requested by LockNCal. LockNCal is not responsible for any extra items sent with the shipment.
- Labeling/contact details: You are responsible for providing accurate identifying information and contact information with the shipment when requested.
6) Return Shipping and Address Accuracy
- Return destination: Return shipping will be sent to the return address you provide.
- Address accuracy: You are responsible for ensuring the return address and contact details are accurate and complete. LockNCal is not responsible for misdelivery caused by incorrect or incomplete address information you provide.
- Returned/undeliverable shipments: If a return shipment is refused, returned, undeliverable, or otherwise fails delivery due to address issues or recipient unavailability, additional shipping, handling, storage, or re-shipping charges may apply.
7) No Refunds (Mail-In Services)
Mail-in services are generally final and non-refundable as described in LockNCal’s Return & Refund Policy and service-specific disclosures.
- No refunds due to item condition: No refund will be issued if the item cannot be serviced because of its condition, including damage, corrosion, flooding, internal defects, prior alteration, or other conditions outside LockNCal’s control.
- No refunds due to shipping/transit issues: No refund will be issued for carrier delay, carrier damage, loss, theft, misdelivery, or problems caused by packaging or shipping conditions.
- Capability-only limited exception: In limited situations, LockNCal may provide a partial refund only if explicitly stated in the service-specific disclosure accepted at checkout (for example, where LockNCal determines it lacks capability, software support, or tooling support for that specific item). Any such exception is narrow and does not apply to damaged, defective, incorrectly shipped, or transit-affected items.
8) Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Law:
- LockNCal is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to any mail-in service, including but not limited to loss of use, lost profits, downtime, towing, rental vehicle costs, storage costs, shipping delays, or similar losses.
- If LockNCal is found liable for any reason, LockNCal’s total liability for any claim related to a mail-in service will not exceed the amount paid for the specific mail-in service at issue.
9) Governing Law
These Mail-In Terms are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
10) Acceptance
By proceeding with a mail-in request, using a prepaid label, shipping an item to LockNCal, and/or purchasing a mail-in service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Mail-In Service Terms & Conditions.
